Here comes the shootout to your couch: Above Snakes, an indie survival and building game already on Steam, is coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It is made by Dutch studio Square Glade Games and published by RedDeer.Games. The date has not come out yet, only the promise of “later this year”.
What the game is about
It is a classic sandbox: you gather resources, build shelter, fish, plant crops and brawl with the mysterious Lost Souls. The story follows a young woman trying to survive in a world that changes quickly, on a big map full of secrets.
RedDeer.Games, founded in 2019, already has more than 90 titles in its portfolio and appears in Forbes’ top 50 Polish developers. For 2025 the company promises Pilo and the Holobook, Cottonville and Sunseed Island. Square Glade debuted with Above Snakes and is now working on a casual game called Outbound.
Our take
Building games on a controller sometimes choke, so the thing to watch is whether the port will respect the menu. But a Wild West with farming and ghosts? That has the look of a long gaming session on the Switch, dude.
