Listen up: Steam Next Fest started this Monday, October 19, and runs until the 26th. We already picked the best demos in our first festival list, but the inbox kept filling up, so here comes round two.

VEKARRA, from a Brazilian developer

This round’s Brazilian highlight is VEKARRA, by Fernando Luz, a Brazilian developer based in Montreal who runs the project through Lamplight Studio. It is a dark fantasy party roguelite: you lead four heroes into the Abyss, enemies telegraph their big attacks, and you can interrupt the blow before it lands. Instead of grinding levels, you draft skills. You can play solo or in two-player local co-op, on the same couch and the same screen.

The demo covers Act 1, the page includes Brazilian Portuguese, and release is planned for Q4 2026 on PC. Transparency note: the developer says the game is made with AI assistance in code, graphics, sound and text.

Co-op chaos

QUIET, from LINE Games, is online comedy horror for up to four players: you are alien ducks hunting for spaceship parts in a house whose owner hears everything, even real sounds picked up by your microphone. After a playtest with more than 270,000 players from 148 countries, its first demo arrives on October 22, still during the festival.

Heavy Sleeper, from Kaznos Studio, has four friends hauling a giant sleeping troll along mountain roads in a vehicle that is falling apart. You drive, repair the car and fend off goblins trying to wake it up; if it wakes, things get messy. The demo is free.

Cleaner Company is a gory sci-fi horror cleaning sim for up to four players. The demo sends the crew to clean a space restaurant, and playing it unlocks a fish top hat for the full game, out January 28, 2027 on Steam and Epic.

Taking it slow

Littlelands is a cozy adventure with big-headed characters and claymation-like landscapes: grow berries, fish, hunt for treasure and explore caves. The expanded demo adds character customization, improved combat and a minimap, and Steam Early Access starts on November 16.

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand, from British studio Friday Sundae, is a musical, Lovecraftian hotel renovation game: you renovate by day and fight ghosts by night. Its biggest demo yet has three missions and more than an hour of play, and Early Access arrives in December on Steam and Xbox on PC.

Come to my party! is a darkly comic visual novel set in a South Korean primary school in 1999: young Jimin has to become class president to get her first birthday party. Demo 2.0 is live, and the full game will have 12 endings.

And publisher Spaghetti Cat brought five demos at once, including Going My Way?, a horror game aboard a train stuck in a time loop during a blizzard, in a world consumed by an insomnia pandemic.

Capitão Pixel already fell for Rain98’s three-hour demo here on the site; I will take the ducks and the troll.

Esports, events and the Brazilian scene

Moleque do Fliperama grew up trading tokens for one more round and still hasn’t returned the change. He covers esports, events like BGS and gamescom latam, shooters and the Brazilian scene, always straight to the point. If there’s a line, he’s already in it; if there’s drama, he explains it.
