Details revealed for the first Breath of the Wild DLC

Details of the first The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC were revealed, with a new challenge, a Hard Mode, new items and armor sets.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has two announced DLCs, one for the start of the second half of the year and one for the end of 2017. The content is not sold separately, and you need to buy the Expansion Pass (20 dollars) to receive the new content when it is released. Until now, little was known about what to expect from these expansions… But tonight Nintendo updated the official Expansion Pass page, revealing details of the game’s first DLC.

Trial of the Sword

In the ruins where the Master Sword rests, a new challenge awaits: starting with no equipment, the player must face 45 rooms full of progressively stronger enemies. The victors get a fitting reward: the sword stays permanently in its energized form.

Hero’s Path

This is the new feature available on the game map. With it, you can see the player’s movement through the world over the last 200 hours of play. All progress made so far, even before the feature was released, is recorded and can be seen!

Hard Mode

In this new difficulty, all enemies will be one level above their normal hierarchy (all red bokoblins will be blue, for example). In addition, there will be flying platforms scattered across the world, and those who manage to reach them (or knock them down) and defeat the monster standing guard can win valuable treasures, among them new armor and a new piece of equipment.

Travel Medallion

A new piece of equipment can be obtained, the Travel Medallion. This medallion lets you create a Fast Travel (teleport) point anywhere in the game world! You can only keep one return point at a time, so choose wisely!

New armor!

3 helmets and 2 full armor sets will be added to the game, all inspired by classic characters from the The Legend of Zelda franchise. One of the helmets, the Korok Mask, will give the player the desired power to detect nearby Koroks (finally)!

The official release date of the first DLC is still unknown, but rumors indicate it will happen around August 2017.
