Numbers first: Resident Evil Village, the eighth main chapter of Capcom’s horror series, was confirmed on January 21, 2021 with a full Brazilian Portuguese dub. In practice, this means audio and subtitles in our language, not just translated text.

The news was given by Capcom Brasil live on the show Multiverso, on the Loading channel. The host posted right afterward on social media: “RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE WILL BE DUBBED!”, saying that @CapcomUnityBR had delivered the news “first-hand and live” on the show.

The announcement came on the same day Capcom held a presentation dedicated to the game and released the first demo, Maiden, exclusive to PlayStation 5. Also in January the company confirmed the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, which joined those for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Stadia.

Translating the jargon: Village is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7, again in first person and again with Ethan Winters as the protagonist. He goes after his daughter, Rose, in a village ruled by four lords and by Mother Miranda, with Lady Dimitrescu and her castle as the face of the marketing campaign. The game runs on the RE Engine, Capcom’s in-house engine, and has optional ray tracing on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

What came next

Resident Evil Village reached stores on May 7, 2021 with the promised dub: the game’s Steam page lists Brazilian Portuguese among the languages with full audio. The game shipped more than three million units in its first four days, received generally positive reviews and in October 2022 got the Winters’ Expansion, with the Shadows of Rose story. Versions for macOS, Switch (cloud), PlayStation VR2, iPhone and iPad followed and, in February 2026, Nintendo Switch 2.

Hardware, PC and performance

Doutor Overclock claims a PhD in thermal dissipation; the diploma, curiously, has never left the lab. He covers hardware, PC requirements, performance patches and upscalers, and turns spec sheets into plain English. He apologizes in advance for the dry joke in the third paragraph.
