Pokémon Scarlet and Violet became the biggest launch of a console-exclusive game of all time.

Nintendo announced today that its latest game in the Pokémon franchise, Scarlet and Violet, sold 10 million units in just 3 days.

Japan alone bought more than 4 million of those units.

With these numbers, Pokémon Scarlet Violet broke some records for Nintendo. It is the fastest-selling game in Nintendo’s history.

  • Biggest launch in the Pokémon franchise
  • Biggest launch of a Nintendo Switch game
  • Biggest launch of a Nintendo game on any platform
  • Biggest launch of a console-exclusive game, on any console, of all time

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was released 3 years after Pokémon Sword and Shield, and is the franchise’s first fully open-world game.

It is being heavily criticized for below-expected performance, as the game has several graphical glitches and slowdowns. But at the same time, the shift to an open world and the gameplay novelties are being widely praised.
