RUMOR: first half of 2020 will be insane for releases, says journalist

Rumor: the first half of 2020 will be insane for game releases, according to a tweet from Jason Schreier, then an editor at Kotaku.

According to a tweet posted by Jason Schreier, editor at the controversial site Kotaku, the first half of 2020 will be insane in terms of game releases.

A user on the social network asked him whether some of the most anticipated games of the moment would come out in the first half of 2020, and the games journalist said: “based on the information he’s been hearing, yes.”

The games mentioned were Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED, The Last of Us II from Naughty Dog, Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch, Final Fantasy VII Remake – Part 1 from Square Enix, plus 1 or 2 AAA Ubisoft games, and the game developed by From Software with consulting from G.R.R. Martin, creator of Game of Thrones.

In the case of Cyberpunk 2077, Schreier said he heard from 3 different sources that CD Projekt RED is racing to release the game still in 2019, but that this is an unrealistic forecast.

He believes the game will only be released in the first half of 2020. Perhaps an announcement will happen at this E3 with a 2019 date, followed by a delay to 2020.

Still on the rumor front, GameStop Ireland listed Final Fantasy VII Remake for Xbox One on its website, even though the game was presented as exclusive to PlayStation 4.

Adding to all this, we recently had the official announcement from Hideo Kojima and his studio Kojima Productions that his next game, Death Stranding, will be released at the end of the year, specifically on November 8, 2019.

With E3 2019 starting next week, we will surely have more (official) announcements of games that will be released within the next 12 months, since in the second half of 2020 the big companies will probably focus their efforts on promoting their next-generation consoles, which according to analysts are expected to hit the market at the end of 2020.
