PS4 reaches 94.2 million units, as announced by Sony.

In its fiscal report for the last quarter, which ended on December 31, 2018, Sony said that 94.2 million PS4 units had been shipped to stores.

In that period, a total of 8.1 million units were shipped to retailers, which is 900 thousand fewer than in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Sony also said it will not change its forecast of 17.5 million units in sales for fiscal year 2018, which began on April 1, 2018 and will end on March 31, 2019.

In addition, PlayStation Plus subscribers numbered 36.3 million accounts on December 31, 2018, 2.1 million more than the subscribers in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

With these numbers, the PlayStation 4 officially becomes the best-selling video game console of 2018, narrowly surpassing the Nintendo Switch.

Adding up the PlayStation 4s shipped in each quarter of 2018, we get a total of 17.7 million, while the Nintendo Switch reached a total of 17.41 million.
