After almost 30 years, the Mortal Kombat 1 team has finally managed to put the actor in a game of the franchise.
First, watch the trailer, which shows the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for the character Johnny Cage, and his second Fatality:
For those who don’t know (you were in cryosleep or don’t like fighting games), the first Mortal Kombat began its development as a Van Damme game, but something went wrong and the actor gave up on the idea and on putting his name on a “video game”.
The NetherRealm folks (who at the time did not even go by that name) changed the Van Damme character’s name to Johnny Cage, and made history with the most violent game created up to that point, even leading to the creation of the age-rating regulation system for games.
For now, this Van Damme skin for the character Johnny Cage will be available only to those who buy the Premium Edition.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be released by Warner Bros. Games on September 19, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Anyone who buys the Premium Edition (R$ 470,00 reais on the Brazilian PSN), besides getting the Van Damme skin, also secures early access to the game and can play on September 14, one week before the official release.
